OPEN ARMS UKRAINE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit working with orphan children in Ukraine. A dedicated team currently lives in Sumy, Ukraine working with the lost and broken orphans residing there. These fatherless children are desperately seeking hope in a depressed country within a suffocating system.

Only 10% of orphans will successfully transition to adult life. The other 90% will do their best to try to survive with 60% of girls turning to prostitution and 70% of boys turning to a life of crime. When forced to live in a world they are unprepared for, desperation takes over and life becomes a struggle to endure.

Open Arms Ukraine desires to change these statistics by working with orphans starting at the orphanage and walking alongside them in the years following the orphanage as they make the difficult transition into society. Through programs and individual relationships we seek to build trust, guide, and share the love of Christ in tangible ways with these forgotten children.

There are over 100,000 orphans living in orphanages in Ukraine and an estimated 1,000,000 living on the streets. When these orphans "graduate," anywhere from age 14-17, most have no place to go and end up on the street, many turning to drugs, alcohol, crime and prostitution as means of survival.

Based in the Sumy region in north-eastern Ukraine, Open Arms ministers to over 200 orphans, children currently in the orphanage system and “graduated” teenagers now living on their own. The ministry of Open Arms is one based, not solely on a program, but also on our relationships with the children. Our ultimate goal is to show them the love of God who calls each one of them to come as they are and find comfort in His arms.

Reaching out to the broken orphans of Ukraine with Open Arms by providing loving, stable support through which they can begin new lives of hope, dreams, and healing in their Heavenly Father.
